Turning away persecuted and perfectly innocent men, women and children simply because of what someone else might do, is not what Christ would do, and it reflects neither the compassion of Christ nor the American values of liberty and justice for all. Sometimes we have the luxury of doing what is safe, what is easy and what is popular, and on other occasions we must submit to the voices of what Abraham Lincoln called the better angels of our nature, and do what’s right.
