One Horrific Stench!

If all the negative political ads which are currently creating a horrific stench all over the country could be collected into one colossal, galvanized spreader, we’d never need to buy fertilizer again!  SC

Don't Be Deceived

  • Sadly, most of us are far less
    concerned about
    what’s right,
    than we are about
    what’s ours.  SC

Fat, little toad men!

One of the reasons that much of the world and many of our own young people today, no longer feel or show respect for our Country, our leaders, our law enforcement, or even themselves, is because fat little toad men can come on television and disrespect The President of The United States of America, and nobody says a word. Well I for one am embarrassed by that kind of behavior. Free speech needs to be protected, but making a total ass of yourself should be discouraged. SC

Hey, Mr. Rove, does it bother you at all, that you’ve deliberately created a huge, festering wound in the heart of our country?

Over the months ahead, we have a choice.  We can support people who reach out in civility in search of constructive answers to the difficult questions which confront us, or we can support those who deliberately widen the growing abyss, finding fault, promoting hatred, and fanning the flames of derision, and contempt. Civility and compromise offer opportunities for a renewed sense of brotherhood, unity, and unlimited possibility. The other way leads to weeping and gnashing of teeth. Choose wisely.  SC

If he can earn the ridicule and contempt of our closest allies in just one day, imagine what he could achieve in four years, with those who already dislike us.  Some people are cut out to be leaders, others are better suited to enjoying their inheritance, firing people, and appearing smug and aloof.

Our best hope may be to vote for the people who have figured this out.

  • It should probably be noted,
Mr. Rogers made this observation many years ago.
    Money no longer trickles up;
    it gushes!

Seeing no one, I reached out anyway.
Velvet black silence consuming me,
motionless, oppressive, uninterrupted.
The only sound, the last labored beating of my own feeble heart.
And then, through the merciless void which enveloped me,
A firm hand joined unexpectedly with mine,
My pulse no longer relevant, my last breath expelled,
A rush of reassurance filled my soul,
A warm embrace, and eternity took me in.

Poor Obie, Orphaned Again!

At some point in the not too distant future,
my contract with the current publisher of
"Obie's Quest"
will come due, and I'll be considering all options.
If you know of a traditional publisher
who is currently accepting submissions,
I'd be interested.

One summer it was mighty hot!
It got up to a hundred and four!
The kids was in the cattle tank.
They couldn’t take no more!

When finally them kids had enough,
At last I saw MY chance.
Them kids swarmed down the hill to play,
And I stripped my shirt and pants.

I sprawled out in that water tank,
And things was lookin’ better,
Till them darn kids came screamin’ back,
In hopes of gettin’ wetter.

“We’re gonna git some ice-cream Dad.”
I heard them yahoos yellin’.
“You kids track up your mom’s clean floors,
And you better believe, I’m tellin’!”

I made them yahoos wait outside,
While I went to git their treat.
My birthday suit was ringin’ wet,
But at least I had clean feet.

I opened wide the freezer door,
And leaned in for the rocky road.
You’ve probably guessed what happened next.
If only I had knowed!

I blush to tell what happened next.
I feel so darned inferior!
That freezer door came slammin’ shut,
And froze tight to my bare posterior!

Them kids got tickled, but they thawed me loose.
I’m tickled that’s all they done.
It would have been just like them two
To dial up nine-one-one!

1 John 4:8 says, “God is Love.”
If you believe this to be true, then claiming to be a disciple of this God of infinite compassion, forgiveness, and mercy, and then hating others because of who they love, has got to be the worst kind of hypocrisy.  SC

Happy July 4th, Strive To Be Worthy

I'm generally a pretty moderate kind of guy, but as far as I'm concerned, anyone who isn't willing to pledge allegiance to the flag, needs to get the hell out of the Country. This Country is like a huge club, and, as with any club, there are dues to be paid.  It's your choice; pay your dues, or get out.  Happy Independence Day!
