Divine Guidance directs us, whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and praiseworthy, think on such things. In today's chaotic world, we are too often distracted from the good, by the doubts, fears, violence, and apprehensions that daily assault our senses from the cacophony of chaos that surround us. Remember always, we still have a choice, and the threatening darkness should provide us incentive to raise our candle and brighten the world around us. Brighten the corner where you are. Take heart, my friends, and choose wisely. May your heart be light, your spirits bright, hopes high, feet dry, and your best days yet ahead. SC

Partisanship is not a dirty word.
Partisanship is not a dirty word. When sane and civil, partisanship is simply a means of practicing citizenship. Without citizenship, democracy is quickly a case of the victor taking the spoils. When money and influence are victors over truth and justice, democracy has failed. Effective democracy relies on participation. The result of participation is partisanship. The entire point of democracy is the peaceful resolution of partisan or opposing views. A partisan is simply a strong supporter of a person, cause, or view. The essential ingredients to peaceful and effective partisanship and democracy are civility and reason. When civility and reason fail, democracy fails. When democracy fails, liberty and justice fail. When liberty and justice fail, America fails. SC
